Beastie Boys original member John Berry dead at 52

Original Beastie Boys band member John Berry has died. He was 52.

Berry, who is attributed with coming up with the band’s name, died on Thursday in hospice care at a facility in Danvers, Massachusetts at 7:30 am, reported Rolling Stone magazine.

Musician’s father, John Berry III, said his son had battled frontal lobe dementia, which had gotten worse in thepast few months.

Berry was the lead guitarist, when the band was formed in 1981. He left the group in 1982.

Berry was also a member of other bands including Even Worse, Big Fat Love, Highway Stars and Bourbon Deluxe.

Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
